Gastronomical Delights and Achievements

We had a fabulous day in Belize City on Saturday for the Taste of Belize 2025 event, hosted by the BTB at the Caribbean Motors showrooms. Special thanks to everyone involved in organising the event, the sponsors and everyone who turned out to support the event.

It was a hectic week for me, running between Belize City and my resort. Then on the day, even though I was up and going from 4am right through until 10pm, I had an extremely rewarding day working with friends and colleagues. There was music and dj’s, Garifuna and Kreole drums, singing, and dancing. And we also had steel band music to keep us all entertained in between the cooking heats. Everyone got to taste the various food offerings available from the cultural mix of our Belize and we even had the privilege of attending a Ramen Master Class given by Toshiya of Koi Sushi.

As most of you know, my Sous Chef, Maya Mike, entered the Master Chef competition this year. When he entered the previous Taste of Belize he came away with 3rd prize. This year after battling against some very professional and experienced competitors, Maya Mike did spectacularly well and came away with overall 2nd place in the Belize Master Chef category!

3rd last time, 2nd this time, next time…

Before I end, Maya Mike has asked me to pass on his thanks for all those who went to Belize City to support him, everyone who cheered on through social media, and those who cheered while watching on TV. He says knowing he had your support really powered him on to rise to the occasion.

I also ask you to join me in congratulating all the other contestants who took part and the winners.
